Happy Monday!! I’ve been so busy these past two weeks. Last weekend, I attended my cousin’s High School graduation in Georgia and spent about a week at my cousin’s house, catching up with family members. During a time like this, it is always good to see family and friends.
It still amazes me how things have changed this year, but it was also different seeing graduation take place in a pandemic. They did a great job putting together seating for both the families and graduates. Everyone was required to wear a mask, but I can’t believe we still have to continue social distancing, and we are now in August. Luckily their school was able to provide a safe environment for them to graduate because graduating High School is usually one of your first big accomplishments. Overall, it was great seeing my little cousin RayJon graduate high school.
If you know me, you know I always have to buy a new outfit or shirt for every event. For graduation, the graduate wanted everyone to wear all white or blue. Luckily, I had been waiting for a good time to wear this ASOS blue and white button-down, so I didn’t need to go shopping, mainly because I decided to go the day before graduation. I wore distressed blue jean shorts and all-white air forces to give it a more casual look because it was so hot. Button-down collar shirts have been a trend this summer, but they are also so versatile you can pair it with just about anything to fit whatever type of look or event you are attending.

Last week, we attended a skating rink in Georgia, which allowed me to wear an outfit. We are so limited on places we can go and things we can do this summer that any chance I get to go out now feels like when I was in middle school, and we had dress down Fridays. You were just so happy that you didn’t have to wear your uniform and you could put together an outfit and show off a good pair of sneakers.
I recently ordered a shirt from a black-owned business (itsonkel.com), which you will see below. I love the whole inspiration behind his brand and the message in his clothing. I decided to wear his shirt, distressed black jeans and a pair of retro bred 11s to the skating rink.

Whenever I go away, I always make it my duty to learn something, whether it’s big or small, but this time I was asked a question that required me to think a little. My older cousin asked us, “What’s the only thing free in life?” Of course, we are all sitting there looking crazy because we didn’t know what to say, so we start naming things like air and knowledge, for example. Which still can be correct answers whichever way you look at it, but when he finally told us his answer. He said, “It cost you nothing to pay attention.” I agree. You never know who is watching you, especially in society today. Still, on the bright side, you also can learn a lot by paying attention to the people around you, whether it’s your friends, family members, co-workers, your partner, or doing something like reading, watching tv, or at an event.
Please pay attention to the people around you never know what the outcome will be, whether it’s good or bad, but paying attention in the right setting can also jumpstart your career or any goal you want to complete.
Continue to bet on yourself !
